    Fiber Optic Casing Pipes

Technical data regarding the burial of fiber optic cables and the pipes that protect them are very important in terms of safe installation, longevity and performance. Below you can find important technical details on this subject.

    Pipe Type Material
    • Microduct Pipes (Micro Channel Pipes): Fiber optic cables are usually carried in microducts. These pipes are made of durable plastic material such as polyethylene (PE) and are designed to protect the cable.
    • Corrugated Pipes: They are flexible, lightweight and highly durable pipes and are generally used in laying fiber optic cables in the ground.
    Depth
    • Minimum Burial Depth: Fiber optic cable pipes should generally be buried at a depth of 60-120 cm. This protects the cable from impacts, weather conditions and environmental factors that may occur on the surface.
    • Vehicle Passage Areas: If the cable pipes pass through areas where vehicles make wide use, the minimum burial depth should be 100-200 cm. If it will be exposed to a force of more than 450N, large diameter pipes should be used first with horizontal drilling and then the cable pipe should be passed inside.
    Bedding and Protection
    • Sand Bed: Fiber optic cable pipe should be buried directly into the ground. A layer of sand of 10-15 cm thickness should be placed under and on the pipe. It protects the pipe from sharp stones and other hard objects.
    • Protective Strips: Cable warning strips should be placed on the fiber optic pipe to attract attention in case of possible excavation. These strips are usually placed at a depth of 30-40 cm.
    Pipe Curves
    • Maximum Bending Radius: When laying pipes, very sharp bends should not be created. The pipe bending radius should be at least 20-30 cm in accordance with the flexibility of fiber optic cables.
    Drainage and Waterproofing
    • Drainage: When laying fiber optic cable pipes, drainage measures should be taken to prevent water from accumulating. If water accumulates in the pipe, it may affect the performance of the cable.
    • Waterproof: Watertight seals should be used at pipe joints.
    Grounding and Protection
    • Ground: If the pipes contain metal, grounding should be done. This protects the cable from electrical risks..
    • Protection: Concrete protective sheaths can be used to provide mechanical protection on the routes where fiber optic cables pass, especially in urban areas.
    Cable Pulling and Pipe Installation
    • When laying fiber optic cables into pipes, the cable pulling process must be done carefully and the maximum pulling force must be exceeded while pulling the cable.
    • Pipes should be secured along the route and pipe joints should be carefully insulated.
    Proper Marking
    • Warning Labels: Warning signs should be placed along the route where the pipes are laid. This will prevent damage to the fiber optic cable pipes during further excavation work.
